About

A reading room, not a wire service.

The Terminal State publishes short original essays on one idea, pages for the films posted from the social accounts, and a list of links to reporting and primary sources. The idea is that advanced AI can be read as two arrivals at the same place. Acheron is the dystopian reading: systemic triage, and a lock on the controls. Lyra is the utopian reading: synthetic elevation, and a shield that carries weight people are tired of carrying.

The two names are synthetic presenters. They are performed. They are not people, and they are not reporters. A film page says this again beside the picture. The essays on this site are written text.

Signals link out. The article is not copied here. The note under the link is original, and it says which reading the story serves, or that it serves both. This site does not speak for the outlet.

The room is built so it can grow without a redesign. A paper is a Markdown file in the papers collection. A film is a Markdown file with an optional address for the public player. A signal is a Markdown file with an outlet, a date, a link, a topic, and a vector. Push the file and the page appears.

How to read here

Start with what the terminal state is. Then read Acheron and Lyra as a pair. The method paper, how to read a story through both vectors, is the practice. The signals are the current examples.

Nothing here is medical, legal, or financial advice. A note about a trial or a diagnostic model is an invitation to read the source.

The site is independent of any government office and of any lab. The domain is theterminalstate.com.
